District of Timiskaming Social Services Administration Board (DTSSAB) Housing Program
 

The Social Housing program administers rent-geared-to-income assistance to eligible households in the Timiskaming District. Housing assistance is provided to families, seniors, couples, single people and people with special needs in a variety of buildings; townhouses, apartments, single and semi-detached.

There is also a Home Repair Funding Program.

Eligibility for Social Housing

  • At least one member of the household is 16 years of age or older and is able to live independently with or without support services;
  • Each member of the household is a Canadian citizen, or a landed immigrant, or a refugee claimant; No deportation, departure, or exclusion order has been made against any member of the household;
  • No member of the household owes rental arrears to any housing provider under any housing program;
  • No member of the household has been convicted or any offence under section 85 of the SHRA, HSA or crime under the Criminal Code of Canada regarding rent-geared-to-income assistance, or found to by a court of law to have misrepresented their income for the purpose of rent-geared-to-income

Eligibility for Home Repair Funding: Households must:

  • Own a home that is their sole and principle residence with a market value at or below the average MLS resale price for the Timiskaming area and have an
  • annual gross household income at or below $63,300.

Anyone interested in applying for housing or home repair funding may contact the DTSSAB Social Housing Program. Application forms can be acquired in-office, downloaded (here or on website) or you may request that one be mailed to you.
